Seminar: The Role of the Lawyer in Upholding Justice

In continuation of academic activities, on Wednesday, 4 February 2026, Attorney and Legal Consultant Mr. Ardalan Ahmed delivered an academic seminar entitled “The Role of the Lawyer in Upholding Justice” to students of the Faculty of Law.

The seminar examined the fundamental status of the legal profession in consolidating the principles of justice and the rule of law. It highlighted several key themes, including

  • The lawyer’s pivotal role in safeguarding the right to defense and ensuring equality of arms between litigating parties.
  • The contribution of lawyers to the protection of rights and public freedoms and to strengthening public confidence in the judiciary.
  • The ethical and professional responsibility of lawyers to support judicial independence and uphold the rule of law.

This seminar was aligned with Sustainable Development Goal 16 (SDG 16): Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions—particularly in relation to promoting the rule of law at both national and international levels, ensuring equal access to justice for all, and building effective and accountable institutions. In this context, the role of the lawyer constitutes a cornerstone in achieving these objectives and in reinforcing the foundations of a state governed by law.
