Seminar: Academic Advising: Proper Implementation Mechanisms and Its Role in Improving the Quality of University Education

On 22 December 2025, Assistant Lecturer Bayar Imad delivered an academic seminar at the Faculty of Law, Tishk International University, entitled “Academic Advising:Proper Implementation Mechanisms and Its Role in Improving the Quality of University Education.” The seminar was attended by a number of faculty members of the Faculty of Law as well as administrative staff.

The seminar addressed the scientific and practical foundations of academic advising and the correct mechanisms for its implementation by department faculty members. Emphasis was placed on adherence to the approved academic advising forms, organizing students into groups not exceeding seven students per group, and ensuring that the duration of each advising session is no less than two hours. The presenter also stressed the importance of discussing topics strictly within those specified in the approved advising forms in order to ensure academic benefit, address students’ academic challenges, and guide them toward an appropriate and sound academic pathway.

The conducting of this seminar forms part of the Faculty of Law’s ongoing efforts to enhance academic performance and improve the quality of the educational process. It aligns with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly Goal 4 (Quality Education), which emphasizes inclusive and equitable education and the strengthening of academic support and advising systems within higher education institutions. In addition, the seminar supports Goal 16 (Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions) by promoting principles of academic governance and contributing to the development of strong educational institutions capable of preparing graduates who are academically and legally qualified to serve society effectively.
