National Workshop: The Role of Courts in Reducing Crime Rates

In continuation of scientific activities, on Thursday, 19 February 2026, the Faculty of Law at Tishk International University organized a national workshop entitled “The Role of Courts in Reducing Crime Rates” in observance of the World Day of Social Justice. The workshop was delivered by Judge Abdulbasit Farhadi and moderated by Dr. Mohammed Abdulkarim Sharif.

The event aimed to highlight the pivotal role of the judiciary and courts in crime prevention, promote a culture of justice and legal accountability within society, and examine the legislative and procedural mechanisms that contribute to reducing crime and preventing its occurrence.

The workshop was attended by a number of faculty members and law students, in addition to professionals and individuals interested in judicial affairs. This diverse participation provided a dynamic platform for academic dialogue and the exchange of legal expertise and judicial practices.

Moreover, the workshop supported the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly Goal 16, which focuses on promoting peace, justice, and strong institutions. This was achieved by reinforcing the rule of law and encouraging inclusive approaches to justice aimed at reducing crime and safeguarding individuals’ rights within society.
