Mock Trial: Regional Employees Disciplinary Board

The Faculty of Law at Tishk International University (TIU) organized a mock trial simulating proceedings before the “Regional Employees Disciplinary Board” on a case involving the “annulment of a disciplinary penalty imposed on a public employee.” The event was held on Tuesday, February 10, 2026, as part of the faculty’s ongoing efforts to enhance students’ practical skills and provide a comprehensive educational experience.

Fourth-year students participated in the activity under the supervision of Dr. Mohammed Abdul Karim, with a number of faculty members and students in attendance. The mock trial aimed to:

  • Give students practical experience with legal procedures followed before disciplinary bodies.
  • Train them to present evidence and legal defenses effectively and to draft well-structured legal briefs related to challenging administrative decisions.

This mock trial represented an important educational opportunity, enabling students to apply their theoretical knowledge of the Law of Discipline of State and Public Sector Employees in a realistic setting. It strengthened their understanding of both judicial and administrative practices while also offering a valuable platform to develop their professional skills and prepare for their future careers. The initiative reflects the faculty’s commitment to preparing a competent generation of lawyers and judges.

This activity directly supports SDG 16: Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions. By teaching students the mechanisms for filing grievances and appealing administrative penalties, the university promotes fairness and justice within public service, reinforces the rule of law, and safeguards employees’ right to due process—ultimately contributing to the development of effective, transparent, and accountable institutions.
