Joining Screening on Irregular Migration
Tishk International University proudly participated in the Docudrama Screening Event organized by SEEVAR, WEO, and the British Consulate General in Erbil on July 13, 2026. The event was held to promote community engagement and raise awareness aimed at reducing irregular migration from the Kurdistan Region of Iraq to the United Kingdom and France.
Representing Tishk International University were Prof.Dr. Rozhan Dizayee, Dean of the Faculty of Law, and Mr. Dana Shamsaddin, Director of the International Relations Office. Their participation reflected the University’s continued commitment to supporting initiatives that address pressing social challenges through education, awareness, and collaboration.
The event brought together senior government officials, diplomats, and representatives from academic institutions and civil society organizations. Distinguished attendees included H.E. Mr. Rebar Ahmed, Minister of Interior of the Kurdistan Regional Government; H.E. Mr. Safeen Dizayee, Head of the Department of Foreign Relations; H.E. Mr. Omed Khoshnaw, Governor of Erbil; and Dr. Yaseen Salih, Director General of Scholarships and Cultural Relations at the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research.
The program featured keynote speeches delivered by the British Consul General in Erbil and H.E. Mr. Rebar Ahmed, who emphasized the importance of strengthening community awareness, expanding educational opportunities, and fostering international cooperation to address the root causes of irregular migration.
The event concluded with a powerful testimony from a survivor of irregular migration, whose real-life story provided participants with valuable insight into the risks, hardships, and human consequences associated with unsafe migration routes.
