International Workshop: the Challenges of Arbitration in Investment Disputes
As part of its commitment to strengthening international academic cooperation and advancing legal knowledge, on June 9, 2026, the Faculty of Law at Tishk International University organized a distinguished international workshop entitled “Major Challenges Facing Arbitration in Investment Disputes Between States and Foreign Investors.”
The workshop was attended by several senior university officials, including Professor Dr. Sultan Al-Arabi, president of the university, in addition to Prof. Dr. Rozhan Dizayee, the Dean of the Faculty of Law, Dr.Sabah Qasim Khedir, the Head of the Department, and a number of faculty members and academic staff.
The workshop was delivered by Professor Dr. Noor Hamad Al-Rahoum Al-Hajaya from the Faculty of Law at Mu’tah University in the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan. Through a rigorous academic presentation, he addressed the legal and procedural challenges associated with international arbitration in investment disputes and examined mechanisms for achieving a fair legal balance between the rights of host states and foreign investors.
The event witnessed active engagement from participants through insightful discussions and scholarly contributions that enriched the topic and highlighted the significance of such international academic activities in enhancing the quality of legal education and keeping pace with developments at both the regional and international levels.

This workshop aligns with SDG 16: Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions by promoting fair and transparent legal arbitration frameworks, and SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals through fostering international academic cooperation among universities and cross-border legal institutions.
