Tishk International University, Faculty of Law organized the 1st International Law conference/Legal Issues’ on May 23 2016 on Tishk International University Campus.

This conference is an organization of one of the social sciences activities aiming at contributing to Kurdistan citizens.

The conference started with the opening ceremony at 10.00 am with the participation of Dr. Amanj Saeed Advisor to the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Mr. Ali Hussein Head of KDP of Erbil Office, Dr. Aras Khoshnaw Member of 2nd Branch of KDP in Erbil,Mr. Izat Jaafer Member of 2nd Branch of KDP in Erbil, Mr. Jutyar Head of Erbil Committee of KDP about Universities, ministry representatives, parliament members, general directors, civil society activists, political parties representatives and academicians.

The event started with the National Anthem of Kurdistan and the inauguration speeches by Prof. Dr. Ahmet Öztaş President of Tishk International University, Dr. Hüseyin Çakıllıkoyak the Dean of the Law Faculty and the chair, and of Dr. Amanj Saeed Advisor to the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research.

After that, the officials, intellectuals and the visitors listened to the keynote speeches by Mohamed Al-Oreibi Chief Judge, who trialed Ali Hasan Majeed, Former Iraqi Interior Minister under Saddam Hussein’s regime and responsible for the attack of Halabja. And Dr. Adnan Abdullah Lecturer at Tishk International University, explained the legal issues revolving around the case and the right of Kurdistan Region to have an independent sovereign state.

After the keynote speeches, the sessions for the presentations started in the allotted classes with technically fully adequate.

In this conference academic participant of law studies presenting and focusing on especially related about Kurdistan region and Iraqi cases that’s new approaching.

For example, one of the studies of paper is in public law; independence right of Kurdistan Region from Iraq was discussed. Another one is the role of political parties consolidating the democratic system and much of them handled.

On the other hand, in private law field contemporary and new case papers presented. One of them is responsibility of medical doctors in Insurance coverage of vulnerability. Another case is stock market processing in point of view of Law.

The local media showed great interest in the event,  Kurdistan TV, Kurdistan 24, Rudaw, Zagros, Peyam, Speda, NRT, and Bas was ready.
