On March 31, 2025, the Faculty of Law at Tishk International University (TIU) organized a mock trial for its fourth-year law students. The trial was guided by Assistant Lecturer Kastro Salim and focused on a case based on Article 420 of the Iraqi Penal Law.
The aim of this activity was to provide students with a practical understanding of how a criminal proceeding court functions, including the submission of petitions, legal procedures, witness testimonies, and the presentation of evidence.
The event, attended by Dr. Hussein Balisany, Dean of the Faculty, and Dr. Sabah Qasim, Head of the Department, alongside other faculty and students, transformed a regular classroom into a legal exploration. These mock trials provide students with an immersive learning experience, allowing them to apply theoretical knowledge to realistic scenarios and deepen their understanding of criminal practices and legal procedures. This initiative is designed to prepare students for their future roles in the legal profession.
