Loving is caring and we care!

Eldars are precious and respected individuals who are important for their symbolic relevance to the past, and of course for the knowledge of traditions and their contributions to cultural continuity. In fact, the older generations play significant roles in our community, particularly in a society that is indigenous, for both religion and culture compel a close bond between the elderly and the young. Indeed, elders share many commonalities; they are knowledge keepers, and also serve as advisors, counselors, and spiritual healers.

We should honor the older generation, and acknowledge their dedication and loyalty towards the well-being of their families and county.  These precious ladies and gentlemen who were once active and lively, spent their entire youth and power to build the future for the children of today.

We must respect the older generation, for they are the reason we exist; the elders went through many difficult challenges and life experiences to see us here today. Nevertheless, one of the hardest challenges they have been forced to face is the distance between them and their beloved ones caused by Covid-19. Certainly, families have avoided frequent visits to elderly family members out of love – to prevent the spread of the virus and ensure that the vulnerable are spared of this disease. Many people have abandoned frequent visits to their parents and grandparents, to avoid the potential risks associated with Covid-19. In spite of this, the elders have found this to be very difficult and emotionaly wearing, because they gain their strength through the fellowship of their beloved ones.

For this reason, the Faculty of Law of TIU collaborated with the Nursing Home Administration Affairs Manager, to arrange for a visit to to the Nursing Home in aim to provide any necessities and resources, including clothes, food, medicine and such. Many law students particpated in this project; some finanically contributed while others volunteered to help conduct the project successfully. Due to health instructions set by the University, the number of volunteers were limited however, the team still managed to provide the necessary supplies and successfully complete the visit to the Nursing Home on the 15th of November, 2020.

The reaction of the elderly was priceless; the great smiles on their faces will remain as an good memory, and will contoniously remind us to honour the older generation and perform our duties towards them. The feeling of charity, generosity, and philanthropy have activated an undescribable sense of pleasure and social connection, and we aim to conitinue serving our society and helping people in need. We would like to thank Tishk International University for this wonderful opportunity, and hope to hold more of these events in the near future.
