World Suicide Prevention Day Workshop
On September 10, 2025, the Department of Law at Tishk International University (TIU) organized a national workshop entitled “World Suicide Prevention Day,” focusing on Article 408 of the amended Iraqi Penal Law.
The workshop featured Professor Dr. Nozad Sadiq Suleiman as the keynote speaker, with Assistant Lecturer Castro Salem serving as the moderator. During the session, Dr. Suleiman highlighted the shortcomings of Article 408 and its insufficiency in effectively addressing the issue of suicide. He emphasized the need for comprehensive solutions that include religious, economic, political, social, and psychological perspectives. The workshop witnessed active participation from the audience, with numerous interventions and questions that enriched the discussion. This underscored the importance of addressing these complex issues within a robust academic framework.
At the conclusion of the workshop, certificates of appreciation were presented to both the speaker and moderator. Assistant Lecturer Castro Salem presented the certificate to Professor Dr. Nozad Sadiq Suleiman in recognition of his contribution.
