The Faculty of Law at Tishk International University (TIU) successfully organized the 9th International Legal Issues Conference (ILIC 9) on February 27, 2025, in Erbil. The conference brought together legal scholars, researchers, and professionals from across the region.
The event showcased 64 research papers from academics at universities in the Kurdistan Region, Iraq, Jordan, Morocco, Algeria, Egypt, Libya, and Saudi Arabia. All accepted papers will be published in the official conference proceedings.
The opening ceremony, held on the TIU campus, included remarks from prominent figures such as:
- Prof. Dr. Abdulfattah Abdulrazaq, Deputy Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research
- Assist. Prof. Dr. Idris Hadi, Chairman of the Board of Trustees at TIU
- Prof. Dr. Sultan T. Abu-Orabi, President of TIU
- Assist. Prof. Dr. Hussein Balisani, Dean of the Faculty of Law
Keynote speeches were delivered by:
- Prof. Dr. Abdel Naser Mousa Abu Elbasal, Former Jordanian Minister
- Assist. Prof. Dr. Ghazi Khaled Abu-Orabi, Lecturer at Saudi universities
- Assist. Prof. Dr. Muhammed Omer Mawlood, Former member of the Kurdistan Region Court of Appeal
- Assist. Prof. Dr. Abdulbasit Kareem, Former Iraqi Minister of Commerce
The conference attracted a wide audience, including researchers, legal experts, and guests from various institutions. Faculty members and administrative staff from TIU’s Faculty of Law also attended. The event served as a dynamic platform for academic dialogue and future collaboration.
Building on the success of ILIC 9, the Faculty of Law is already preparing for the 10th International Legal Issues Conference, reaffirming TIU’s commitment to advancing legal scholarship and fostering international academic partnerships.
